Honesty is the best policy, especially when it comes to family members that you have a relationship with. If you're not being honest with your family members, then it's not a genuine relationship. In today's 'Am I the A$$hole?' post, OP told us that he grew up with dogs and loves them very much. His wife also loves dogs, but wasn't able to live with any as a kid since her mom was allergic. Recently, OP's wife told OP that she discovered that her mother was lying about her allergy, and she lied because she actually hates animals and didn't want to be forced to live with them. When OP discovered the truth, he went out and got his family a dog, especially because his wife wanted one as well.
